Matthew 2:1 — Seeking the King
“After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem.” — Matthew 2:1 (NIV)
Matthew 2:1 begins a journey — not just a journey across miles, but a journey of faith.The Magi saw something that told them a King had been born. They left behind what was familiar and traveled into the unknown because they believed there was something greater worth finding. They didn’t have every detail. They didn’t know exactly where the road would lead. But they were willing to seek.That is such a powerful picture of faith.Sometimes following God means stepping forward before we have all the answers. It means leaving the comfort of what we know and trusting that He will guide us along the way. The Magi remind us that those who truly seek Jesus will find something far greater than anything the world can offer.This verse also shows an incredible contrast. Jesus entered the world quietly in Bethlehem, while earthly kings like Herod sat in places of power. But God’s greatest gift didn’t arrive surrounded by riches and attention. He arrived with humility.The world often tells us to chase success, status, and recognition. But the Magi were searching for something different — not a position, not possessions, but a Person.They were searching for Jesus.And that same invitation exists for us today. God welcomes those who seek Him. We don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to Him. We simply need a heart willing to follow.

Am I truly seeking Jesus, or am I allowing the distractions of the world to lead my journey?
Prayer:
Lord, give me a heart that seeks You above everything else. Help me follow Your guidance even when the path is unclear. Remind me that finding You is worth more than anything this world can offer. Amen.
