Matthew 4:24

Matthew 4:24 — Bring It All to Jesus

Scripture:“News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.” — Matthew 4:24 (NIV)

Imagine the scene.

Word about Jesus is spreading quickly. People are talking about the things He is doing, the lives He is changing, and the people He is healing. Before long, families begin bringing their sick and suffering loved ones to Him.

They come with different problems. Some are battling disease. Some are living with terrible pain. Some are experiencing seizures. Others cannot walk. Some are suffering spiritually.

Their struggles are different, but they all come to the same place:Jesus.

And Matthew tells us something beautiful:“He healed them.”

Jesus Was Not Afraid of Their Brokenness

One of the things that stands out in this verse is the variety of suffering.

Jesus didn’t only welcome people whose problems were easy to understand. People came to Him carrying physical illness, severe pain, disability, and spiritual torment.

Jesus didn’t turn away from the difficult cases.

He didn’t look at someone and say, “You’re too complicated.”

He didn’t tell them their suffering made them less worthy of His attention.

He received hurting people with compassion and power.

That still tells us something important about the heart of Jesus today.

There is no part of your life that you need to hide from Him.

Bring It to JesusThe people in this verse did something simple but incredibly important:They brought the hurting to Jesus.

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to fix everything ourselves that prayer becomes our last resort instead of our first response.

We worry.

We analyze.

We imagine every possible outcome.

We carry burdens that were never meant to be carried alone.

But Matthew 4:24 reminds us where we can take our pain.

Bring it to Jesus.

Bring Him your fear.

Bring Him your disappointment.

Bring Him your physical suffering.

Bring Him your family.

Bring Him your financial worries.

Bring Him the situation that keeps you awake at night.

Bring Him the thing you don’t know how to fix.

You don’t have to make everything better before coming to Christ.

Come as you are.

When Healing Doesn’t Look the Way We Expected

Matthew 4:24 records miraculous physical healings during Jesus’ earthly ministry. As Christians, we believe God is still able to heal.

But we also know that not every prayer for healing receives the answer we hoped for in this life.

That can be painful.

Faith isn’t pretending that suffering doesn’t hurt. And unanswered prayer doesn’t automatically mean someone lacked enough faith.

Sometimes God changes the situation.

Sometimes He carries us through the situation.

Sometimes the answer comes differently than we expected.

And some things will not be completely restored until God’s final restoration.

Our hope isn’t simply that Jesus will always give us the outcome we request.

Our hope is Jesus Himself.

Maybe You Can Be the One Who Brings Someone to Jesus

There’s another beautiful detail in this verse.

It says “people brought to him” those who were suffering.

Some of the hurting people may not have been able to get to Jesus by themselves. Someone else helped bring them.

That challenges us.

Who around you needs someone to carry them in prayer?

Who needs encouragement?

Who needs someone to sit beside them?

Who needs to hear that Jesus hasn’t forgotten them?

You may not be able to solve someone’s problem.

You may not have the perfect words.

But you can love them. You can pray for them.

You can point them toward Christ.

Sometimes loving someone means helping carry them toward Jesus when they don’t have the strength to walk there alone.

A Reminder for Today

Whatever you are carrying today, Jesus is not intimidated by it.

Your situation isn’t too complicated.

Your pain isn’t too messy.Your questions aren’t too difficult.

Your burden isn’t too heavy for Him.

Matthew 4:24 shows us people bringing every kind of suffering to Jesus.

So today, instead of carrying everything by yourself, open your hands.

Bring it to Jesus.

And if you see someone struggling beside you, help carry them to Him too.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,Thank You that I can come to You with every part of my life. Thank You for Your compassion toward people who are hurting.

Today I bring You the things that are weighing heavily on my heart. I bring You my fears, worries, pain, questions, and the situations I cannot control.

Help me trust You even when Your answer looks different from what I expected. Give me faith to believe that You are present even in seasons of suffering.

And Lord, help me notice the people around me who are hurting. Show me how to encourage them, pray for them, love them, and point them toward You.

Whatever I face, remind me that I never have to face it without You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Question

What burden have you been trying to carry on your own that you need to bring to Jesus today?

Today’s ChallengeTake five quiet minutes today and tell Jesus exactly what you’re carrying. Don’t worry about finding perfect words. Simply bring it to Him.

Then think of one person who may be struggling and pray specifically for them.

One verse. One truth. One step closer to Jesus.
