Matthew 1:23 – God Is With Us
Scripture:”Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).” — Matthew 1:23
There are moments in life when loneliness feels overwhelming. We may be surrounded by people, yet still feel unseen. We may pray and wonder if God is listening or if He has somehow stepped away from our circumstances.Matthew 1:23 answers those fears with one powerful name: Immanuel.This prophecy, first spoken through Isaiah and fulfilled in the birth of Jesus, reveals one of the most beautiful truths in all of Scripture: God chose to come near. He didn’t remain distant from our pain or observe humanity from heaven. He entered our world, walked our roads, experienced our sorrows, and ultimately gave His life to save us.Jesus is more than a great teacher or moral example. He is God with us.That means when you’re grieving, He is with you.When you’re anxious about the future, He is with you.When you’re celebrating life’s blessings, He is with you.When you feel forgotten or abandoned, He is with you.His presence doesn’t depend on your feelings. There will be days when you don’t feel close to God, but His promise remains unchanged. Immanuel reminds us that God’s presence is rooted in His faithfulness, not in our emotions.The birth of Christ forever changed history because it demonstrated God’s incredible love. He didn’t simply tell us He loved us—He came to us. And through faith in Jesus, His presence continues with us every day through the Holy Spirit.Whatever you’re facing today, remember the meaning of His name. You are never walking alone.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus, our Immanuel. Thank You that You are not distant but near to us in every season of life. Help me to remember that Your presence is constant, even when I cannot see what You are doing. Strengthen my faith, calm my fears, and fill my heart with the peace that comes from knowing You are always with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
