The Worthy Lamb: A Reflection on Revelation 5:6

Scripture: “And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” — Revelation 5:6 (KJV)

Revelation 5:6 presents one of the most powerful images in all of Scripture. John sees a Lamb standing at the center of heaven’s throne room. This is no ordinary lamb—it appears as though it has been slain, yet it stands alive and victorious. This Lamb is Jesus Christ. The image beautifully captures the heart of the gospel. Jesus gave His life as the perfect sacrifice for sin, yet He conquered death through His resurrection. The scars of His sacrifice remain a testimony of His love, but they do not signify defeat. Instead, they reveal His victory. The Lamb stands in the midst of the throne, showing His central place in God’s redemptive plan. He is worthy of honor, worship, and praise because He alone accomplished what no one else could. Through His death and resurrection, He opened the way for humanity to be reconciled to God.The seven horns symbolize perfect power and authority. The seven eyes represent perfect knowledge and the fullness of God’s Spirit. Nothing escapes His attention, and nothing is beyond His control. Jesus reigns with complete wisdom and sovereign authority over all creation. This vision offers tremendous encouragement for believers. When life feels uncertain, we can remember that the Lamb who was slain is also the King who reigns. He understands suffering because He endured it Himself. He knows our struggles, sees our tears, and remains present with us through every trial.Revelation 5:6 reminds us that God’s greatest victory came through what appeared to be weakness. The cross looked like defeat, but it became the means of salvation for the world. In the same way, God can bring purpose, hope, and redemption out of the difficult circumstances we face.As we reflect on this verse, we are invited to worship Jesus with renewed awe and gratitude. He is the Lamb who sacrificed Himself for us and the risen Lord who reigns forever.Life ApplicationTake time today to reflect on the sacrifice and victory of Jesus Christ.
